Second Kiss

The first time Gwen Cooper kissed Captain Jack was when they had saved Carys from the sex alien, and he did not kiss back. The second time, there was an armed alien game-hunter tracking them. In the cavernous dimness of a shopping mall at night, they couldn't hear him or see him nearby. He had a cloaking device; Tosh's gadgets were useless.

After Gwen kissed Jack, and after Jack kissed her back, Jack said, "That wasn't supposed to happen."

"It didn't," she deadpanned.

"I'm glad it did," said Jack, and grinned.

They resumed their counter-hunt, lighter in hearts and spirits.
