Immortal Beloved

Captain James Harper, who are you?
Appearing from nowhere, going
Poof! into light for your duty.
Tell me where you came from. Tell me
Anything to convince me that
I danced with you at the Ritz, and
Nothing in my life is the same.

James, you had no future or past.
Authorities say there's no one
Called Captain Harper in Britain.
Kind of a shock, to love a ghost.

Harbouring the memory of
An ardent kiss, a tender touch,
Remembering the scent of you,
King of my senses, dearest love,
Nothing of it makes sense. Should I
Endlessly wonder what you were?
Search till I reach the end of my days?
Search for a love that will not die?

As I explained with Jack's Pick, fatchickengirl challenged damalan to write a short piece of Torchwood poetry of eight syllables per line. His poem, End of Days, is here. I did the same, with my own 'constraint'and their okay. I think I ought to name this poetic form after them - a 'damirl' or 'fatlan'. Hmm.
