Waterloo

Death in history was a possibility for any Time Agent. Just John's luck to lie here, in a red coat on a cold battleground near Waterloo, eighteen-bloody-fifteen. No risk no glory, right?

John closed his eyes and let the darkness take him.

Instead he was lifted in strong arms, with Jack's voice and Jack's sweet scent enveloping him. He murmured, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Taking you home."

"'Gainst rules."

"Fuck the rules."

"Jack?"

"You're not dying. I have a ship."

John relaxed into his partner's arms. He'd never felt so safe.

Jack had come back for him.
