Remembering the Dance
It was January 21 again. Jack sat at his desk, single malt in his glass, as he stared at a toy airplane. He had loved and lost before, but seldom so intensely, seldom so briefly. Seldom so painfully.
Tosh came in, closing the door behind her. "Jack? May I sit with you?" She put her hand over his, moving close beside him. "I was remembering that night."
"Kiss the boys good-bye," said Jack sadly. "We had... we had a dance and a kiss. Many have less. We might never have met."
"He loved you."
Tosh held Jack while he wept.
