The Nature of Love
"What about love?" asked Gwen. "To me, it's like a pie. Cut too many pieces, you have nothing left but crumbs. But you find it easy to love a lot of people."
"Not easy." Jack considered. "Just ... It's impossible not to feel things. Hate, lust, love. Each person gets the whole metaphorical pie. The heart holds infinite space for pies, and, er, tarts."
Gwen wanted to ask, "Do I get a whole pie from you, or just one piece?" But she couldn't.
"Love's more like a clear stream," continued Jack. "Flowing where it can."
"Poetic."
"Beautiful," said Jack. "Always."
