Sporting Chance

Ianto loved sports. As a boy, he played hockey. As a teen, it was wrestling and rowing, and (less formally) shoplifting and eavesdropping. Good training for Torchwood.

Anything could be a sport. Office work, Ianto secretly racing to be first and best. Psychological sports, like second-guessing Yvonne. He was so good, she never knew.

Then came the darker sports, like seducing Jack Harkness, and the terrifying thrill of keeping Lisa alive. When she died, he lost the game, and learned that the seducer had become the seduced: it was Jack's round, Jack's match, Jack's victory.

Jack was the master gamesman.
