First Meeting

Friday night at the pub, as usual. "Talk to her," urged Daf, not for the first time.

"Don't know what to say."

"Rubbish! Go over there and start talking."

"Suppose she doesn't like me?"

"You'll never know till you try. You could start with 'hello'."

Rhys looked nervously at the girl with the bright, lively eyes. "Maybe I'll talk to her tomorrow."

"Coward!"

The girl was about to order another pint. Rhys went over. "Hi," he said, taking the plunge. "I'm Rhys, and you're gorgeous. Can I buy you a friendly drink?"

Her smile was enchanting. "I'm Gwen," she said.
